As a member of Foster Care Alumni of America (FCAA) and the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, the founder of PNAFC has been given several opportunities to be a voice for those in and from foster care and is bringing a greater awareness of foster care issues and concerns.
• 07/09/08 Singapore - Presenter at the Honor Society of Nursing's 19th International Nursing Research Congress Focusing on Evidence-Based Practice. Oral presentation will be on published article: Foster Care Children: A Vulnerable Population at Risk.
• 01/25/08 Olympia, WA - Testified in support for House Bill (HB) 3048 to create a pilot program addressing legal representation for foster children in dependency proceedings.
• 01/17/08 Tacoma, WA - Guest Speaker at Bellarmine Prepatory School's Senior Government class project on Foster Care.
• 12/20/07 Seattle, WA - Co-presented with the Casey Family Program’s Research Team on the Findings from the Casey Field Office Mental Health (CFOMH) Study: Results and Recommendations to the Casey Family Program’s Board of Trustees.
• 11/30/07 Tukwila, WA - Presenter/Guest Speaker at the Northwest Alliance for Foster Children 2nd Annual Benefit Dinner
• 11/4/07 Seattle, WA - Co-presented at the 2007 Family Policy Council Partner’s Summit on Resiliency
• 9/25/07 Ocean Shores, WA - Co-presented with Casey’s Family Program’s Research Services at the 25th Annual Foster Parent and Caregiver’s Conference on Mental Health among Youth in Foster Care and represented alumni of foster care.
• 5/19/07 Tacoma, WA - Motivational Speaker at Tacoma Alliance Church for the Women of Beauty Tea Brunch. Spoke about experiences of foster care.
• 4/24/07 Seattle, WA - Co-presented with Casey Family Program’s Research Services at the Northwest Association Special Programs (NASP) conference on data from the Northwest Alumni Study and represented alumni of foster care.
• 12/14/06 North Bethesda, MD - Co-presented with Casey Family’s Research Services at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) State/Tribal/Adolescents at Risk Suicide Prevention Grantee Technical Assistance Meeting on mental health outcomes of foster care alumni and represented alumni of foster care.
